Sit
right back and hear a tale
Storyteller Kirk Henning (pictured) has
shared his stories with audiences at schools, libraries, bookstores,
and festivals throughout California. Now is your chance to
hear the tales he tells. The 11th annual summer season of
"Stories 'Round the Fire" begins this Saturday at
Cayucos Beach. Join Kirk and his wife Patty for an evening
of stories, songs, and a marshmallow roast around the campfire.
Bring a blanket, a jacket, and the whole fam-damily.

is at 7 p.m. June 12, 26, July 3, 10, 24, 31, Aug. 14 &
21 south of the pier in Cayucos. Suggested donation is $3.

This
place is
a zoo
Kids from the 34 local 4-H clubs in the
county are showing their stuff this Saturday at the 4-H Field
Day at the Mid-State Fairgrounds. The event features livestock
shows with sheep, cows, goats, poultry, and rabbits. There
will also be exhibits, demonstrations, a dog training show,
a chicken barbecue fund-raiser, and tons more. The event is
free, too, so there is no reason not to go. HHHHave fun.

begins at 8 a.m. June 12 at the Mid-State Fairgrounds in Paso
Robles. Free. The chicken barbecue is 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Celebration
of the past
Remember
days gone by at the annual Heritage Days celebration, "Discover
the Rancho," this Saturday at the Dana Adobe in Nipomo. The
event includes tours of the adobe, food, hands-on activities,
old-time games, and more. The Orcutt Mineral Society will
even offer panning for gold. Later in the evening, a campfire
concert and dinner will feature a chicken barbecue dinner,
a no host bar, raffles, and music by Dave Stamey, Dorian Michael
(pictured), and Kenny Blackwell. All the day's events benefit
the restoration and upkeep of the adobe.
-- 5th annual Rancho Nipomo Heritage
Day is June 12, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Historic Dana Adobe,
671 S. Oakglen Ave., Nipomo. Cost is $3. A "Campfire Concert
and Dinner" is 5-10 p.m. Tickets are $30. Info: 929-5679.
