Hot rods and cool nights

It's time to cruise on down to the annual West Coast Kustoms Car Show this weekend in Paso Robles. The three-day event begins Friday night with a cruise down Spring Street. The cruise is followed by a '50s street dance with music, alcohol-free libations, and fun for all ages. The Show and Shine on Saturday and Sunday includes hundreds of custom classic cars and hot rods on display at the Downtown City Park. Festivities continue with a concert in the park on Saturday night. Now that's something to get revved up about.

. West Coast Kustoms Car Show is May 28-30 in downtown Paso Robles. Info: 238-4103.

The berry best of the season

Everything's coming up berries this weekend at the 21st annual Strawberry Festival in Arroyo Grande. The celebration includes the Strawberry Stampede, a strawberry pancake breakfast, a strawberry prince and princess contest, a strawberry blonde contest, a strawberry cooking contest, and more strawberrific activities. Along with all the berry madness, the festival includes live music, dance performances, a carnival for kids, games, exhibits, art, and even a mechanical bull. Berry nice.

. The 21st annual Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival is May 29 & 30, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in the Village of Arroyo Grande. Free. Info: 473-2250.
