In their minds’
eye
Take a look into the minds of people with mental illnesses
at the annual exhibit, “Opening Minds,” shown
at the SLO Art Center. The display features photography, paintings,
and poetry created by the mentally ill. It is designed to
create acceptance and encourages artists to be defined by
their strengths and creative gifts, not their illness. You
can meet the artists and see their works this Wednesday at
an opening reception.
“Opening Minds” art show is presented May 26-June
4, at the SLO Art Center, 1010 Broad St., SLO. A reception
for the artists is opening day, 3-6 p.m. Info: 541-5144.
