The grass is always bluer

Mike Marshall and Darol Anger have performed and recorded with some of the top musicians in the world, including Bela Flack and Mark O’Connor. Their mastery of mandolin, guitar, and violin is almost as amazing as their ability to play everything from jazz to classical to bluegrass. Check out these phenoms of the music world at the SLO Folks concert this Saturday at Castoro Cellars in Templeton.

• Mike Marshall and Darol Anger perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at Castoro Cellars, Templeton. Tickets are $20. Info: 238-0725.

Don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing

Take a trip down memory lane when SLO Little Theatre presents “Sentimental Journey,” the best of the 1940s Big Band Leaders and Singers series. Listen to the music of such legendary performers as Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and more. And—Martini Nights are every Saturday and include a no-host bar and food before the performance. Grab your Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and take the Chattanooga Choo-Choo down to the theater for a wonderful show.

• “Sentimental Journey” is staged by SLO Little Theatre Feb. 27-March 27 at 888 Morro St., SLO. Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $20-$30. Info: 786-2440.

Meet those dancing feet

Romance, drama, and dreams of Broadway fill the theater when the Atascadero High School Greyhound Theatre Ensemble presents “42nd Street.” The show features tons of show-stopping dance numbers, amazing costumes, and lots of great songs that will probably get stuck in your head. The musical even features a live orchestra. Not too shabby.

• “42nd Street” is staged by the Atascadero High School Greyhound Theatre Ensemble March 4-14 at the Atascadero High School. Shows are at 7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $10; $8 for students and children. Info: 462-4435.
