You, Shredder, are a coward!

The Shredder’s column on Feb. 6 (“Denturefied”) reflects the “clueless” mindset mentioned in my earlier letter regarding people who are new to the area and don’t understand the history and traditions of Morro Bay. The self-centered and clueless snide comments made by the Shredder about the 50th city birthday celebration shine a bright light on what happens when people with no appreciation or knowledge of local history, lore, and love of their chosen home find an outlet for their venom. He chastised George Leage and Nancy Johnson for their participation in and wholehearted support of the yearlong celebration.

George Leage and his family have been here since the 1950s. Although Nancy Johnson is a recent transplant, she and her husband have completely embraced the Morro Bay community and its history—hair, warts, and all. Get an idea of what an event like that costs before you chastise George Leage or anyone else who provides any meal. Call around and get a rough price for a meal of prime rib, duck, sushi, prawns, and all the foods provided for 200-plus people. Then add in the cost of people to prepare, transport, serve, then clean up after the event.

The Shredder did none of those things. The published rants are those of a coward in that nowhere can a name be associated with any of the Shredder’s publications.
