Wine Shine's Turkish Fig Brandy and The Hatch Rotisserie's Old Fashioned

How do the hardworking guys at Wine Shine know that the Paso Robles craft distillery movement is definitely on the rise? Well, they keep running out of their delicious concoctions, for one. Just like the magic of spring, this slightly sweet, totally alluring Turkish Fig Brandy (made with figs grown in Creston) will be gone before you know it. While you’re at the Wine Shine crib in happening Tin City, be sure to try newcomers Tin City Cider Co., too. In case you were wondering, fermented local apples are experiencing a similar rock star resurgence.

The next time you’re in the mood for ridiculously good Southern comfort food with a farm fresh twist, you need to get your rear to Hatch, pronto! Shrimp and grits, fall-off-the-bone rotisserie cooked meats, and hedonistic chicken-fat toast ... you know the drill! Not as expected is this cozy hangout’s drink menu, which is sophisticated with a capital “S.” I was so in awe of the craft cocktail list recently that I asked my friendly bartender to make the decision for me. Not a bad choice! This Old Fashioned wasn’t any Old Fashioned. Made the classic way, he did not scrimp on the muddled orange, and the bitters were, if I may say, on point. Plus, zesty aromatics to the max! Mixology is magic, people. Y’all know what I’m talking about? Can I get an amen?!
