I spent my morning at the courthouse on Nov. 23 in San Luis Obispo to hear the sentencing of Dan DeVaul. I
heard Deputy District Attorney Craig Van Rooyen repeatedly ask whether De Vaul would take probation and work with the county. What I didn’t hear was whether the county would work with DeVaul. Being in my 80s, I know times have changed but I was taught it takes both give and take to make any agreement work. Will DeVaul and code enforcement officials do that?
We taxpayers thank the county for dropping five alleged code violations against DeVaul. Now, let everyone go the extra mile and bring this case to a successful close. The homeless, less-fortunate community members among us need a place to call home and Sunny Acres is a place open to them. Let’s do all we can to help them.
