Who reports if the news goes on strike?

KSBY-TV news could be suffering after May 1, if union leaders can’t reach an agreement with the company. Kevin Wilson, president of the local chapter of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians, said the group has been negotiating with KSBY since January, but the two sides are still “mile and miles” apart. The association represents most of the supporting staff that produces the news, but not the reporters and anchors. Wilson spoke briefly between negotiations, but didn’t elaborate on what kinds of contract benefits the union is seeking.

Union employees voted on April 10 to use a strike as a bargaining tool if an agreement isn’t reached by May 1, when their current contract expires.

A KSBY representative wasn’t immediately available for comment.
