We need positive suggestions, not political rants

Jennifer Taft’s letter to the editor, “Riedman’s got my vote,” in the March 23 issue caught my eye. Her mention of “Razzle Dazzle” from the play/movie Chicago is a pertinent one for today’s political climate. Google the song to read the rest of the lyrics. Her second quote is a bit off the mark, even though it was not attributed to anyone. It was George Santayana who created the statement “those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution should be read by all those who call for impeaching the president. It is a two-part process; the House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching; the Senate must try the case. Removal from office is automatic if the Senate supports it. In Nixon v. United States (1993), the Supreme Court determined that the federal judiciary cannot review such proceedings.

The vitriol about the current state of our politics seems to be popular these days. I urge people to consider a more positive point of view. We need suggestions and comments about how to solve problems rather than to rant about the obvious.
