Rick Jackoway — former New Times managing editor and current city editor at the Tribune — is leaving for Springfield, Mo. and a job as the metro editor at the News-Leader, a Gannett-owned daily newspaper slightly larger than the Tribune.
Jackoway has worked in San Luis Obispo County for the last 16 years — first as the managing editor of the Five Cities Times Press Recorder. In 2000, he left New Times for the Tribune. That move, he guessed with a wry laugh, makes him the only person in recent history to work as an editor for two countywide newspapers.
Jackoway and his family will be moving closer to where he grew up, St. Louis, and to his wife’s family in southwest Missouri, but, he said, “It’s a long way to a beach from there.�
