That burrito did taste kinda funny …

Pedro Sanchez, the 17-year-old Taco Bell employee who poisoned a burrito before giving it to a CHP officer in Santa Maria, pleaded not guilty to three felony charges this week.

Sanchez was charged with assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon, assaulting a police officer in retaliation of an officer performing his duties, and poisoning or adulterating food, said Jack MacKinnon, deputy district attorney.

CHP officer Martin Ledesma purchased the poisoned burrito on Nov. 10. Ledesma realized something was wrong when he detected a strange odor and felt a burning sensation in his mouth. Sanchez allegedly told the police that he put liquid graffiti-removal solution in the officer’s food in retaliation for an altercation between police and students.

Ledesma went to the hospital after being poisoned but was not admitted.
