Support supervisor broadcasts

Vandenberg Village

In my opinion, the weekly KCBX broadcast of the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors is one of the more valuable, yet one of the least popular of this fine station’s programs. Over the years, as a resident of Northern Santa Barbara County who spends some time in SLO and vicinity, I have come to appreciate hearing our local government in action.

While many of the proceedings are of limited wider interest, important issues are often discussed. Two very critical issues were discussed on the Aug. 7 session, namely the Dana Adobe expansion controversy and concerns regarding potential harmful marine life impacts and important needs of the high-volume marine seismic studies around the PG&E Diablo Canyon nuclear plant. At times, other important environmental and governmental items are discussed.

And where else are we going to hear Eric Greening’s well thought out and skillfully articulated comments? As I travel throughout California, and other parts of the USA, I have listened to nearly every California, Oregon, and Washington NPR station, and many elsewhere. KCBX, with its unique blend of local, independent, and national programming, is by far the best! As KCBX is starting its fall pledge drive, this is an ideal time to let KCBX know how you feel. During this period, when you are pledging, the station asks for program comments as well as seeking support. I ask you to indicate your appreciation of the SLO Board County Board of Supervisors broadcasts.
