Skate Parks located throughout the Central Coast, 781-5930

NEW TIMES What is the Monster Skateboarding Series about?

KING They’re part of the California Skate Park Coalition, which helps to promote youth-to-adult skateboard parks and promotion for the sport. Skateboarding can help young kids and teenagers grow confidence in themselves, and the skate parks are a safe environment where skaters with all sorts of experience can meet others and develop stronger skills. The Monster Skateboarding Series is a contest where skaters compete in runs, performing tricks in order to become the best skater in their division.

NEW TIMES How does a skateboarder compete in the series?

KING Each skateboarder is given a minute run throughout the skate park where they are awarded points on consistency and technical tricks. Basic tricks are awarded one point, and technical tricks are awarded two. The top six skaters of the first run will compete against each other in a second run. There are three judges who tally the points, and whoever has the most combined points at the end of the run will be given placement, which will determine how many points each skater earns for their division.

NEW TIMES How would a skateboarder sign up to compete in the series?

KING We have a wealth of information provided on our website, ccmonsterskate.com, and if you were to head over to any one of the skate parks located in Atascadero, Templeton, Paso Robles, Los Osos, San Luis Obispo, or Grover Beach, I’m sure there’ll be skaters that can tell more about it. Feel free to contact us as well at 781-5930 or any of the other numbers and e-mails provided by our website.
