Speak out for health care

Health care should not be a business for profit. Health should be a right. No person should suffer because they are too poor to afford treatment.

All women should have the right of abortion. It is odd some politicians would take away this right but do not want to support families (even a family of one adult and child) to make sure children stay healthy. Insurance: wow, what a concept! You can have health insurance, if you’re healthy. Health costs stay high because of the expenses of commercial health insurance.

Are we not a social democracy? We have Social Security. History tells of the fears many had when the Social Security was instituted. Now let’s make a heath-care system we all can afford. How is it going to be paid without increasing taxes? For one thing, it will not cost more than we already pay insurance corporations. How about getting out of the business of being in war? The percentage we pay in taxes for military costs and the price to be at war would not only pay for everyone to stay healthy, it would also pay the costs of educating everyone. Dropping out of war business will also stop one of the biggest causes of bad health.

We the people have to speak out to our government to improve our lives. After all, we the people elected our representatives—or is it the corporate powers that were elected to keep profits up?
