Re: “SLO County puts hemp industry on hold

The operative question is, "Who stands to benefit by not allowing people to grow and sell a plant that occurs naturally and has multiple beneficial uses for humanity?"

Re: “Reproductive rights don't end with anti-abortion

Dave, clearly abortion is not the answer for you, and you have every right to believe what you want to believe. The thing is, Universal Law states clearly that humans on Earth have what is called "free will", so others have the right to believe that abortion IS the answer.

Here's a notion from a spiritual perspective that I use as a mantra in every aspect of my life and the world around me:

"We are all doing the best we can do with what we have, where we are."

It puts things into perspective: Where was I a decade ago? What about 30 years ago? What was I thinking and doing? Am I a better person now that I was at the age of 16? The above mantra embraces the process of being human, rather than judging others for behavior in a single moment in time.

So, rather than focus on how superior I am to others and sending out negative energy to the world, I spend a great deal of my time learning about what is really happening to humans and Earth on a grand scale. This leaves out my concerns for any other woman's right to choose, first, her sexual partner; second, whether or not she will bring human life to the planet; and third, how she will manage that decision.

I am of the understanding that life on Earth is horribly out of whack for a number of reasons that are difficult for many people to embrace, but that our entire Universe, our solar system, and Mother Earth are all working together to rectify the awful state of our collective beingness. I, too am working on shifting the energy, and I wholeheartedly urge you, Dave, to learn about Earth's (and humanity's) ascension process for a new perspective.

Love and light to you!

Re: “DA declines to charge former Paso police officer accused of sexual assault

Survivors do NOT come forward to simply be offered "other ways" of support: They come forward because they want justice. They want to see that the perpetrator is held accountable for his/her actions. I am outraged that Dow went against DNA evidence and the SLO County Sheriff's deputy's recommendation because sexual assault cases are "difficult" and "complex." It does not matter if the two people had previous consenting sexual activity: If at some point, any point, there is an unwanted advance, it is force and therefore unlawful. Where is the justice?

Re: “Central Coast taxpayers deserve better

We could invest in all of it if corporations and wealthy people would pay their fair share in taxes, and if Prop 13 would be overturned so all Californians would pay their fair share. We are all in this together, right?

Re: “The high-speed rail is still worth the money

The fallacy of American "rugged independence" and "individualism" as promulgated by Republicans and Libertarians has shredded the importance of community and a "we're all in this together" mindset. Divide and conquer is the way the forces of hegemony keep us from amassing our collective power and creating a truly amazing nation (and world). We all share this planet, and it seems to me that the sooner we all get together and get to work, the better. Sitting around griping about infrastructures and programs that make life easier for others results in keeping us all down, and keeping the already rich and powerful happily feeding off our petty-minded, cold-hearted desperation and hatred.

Re: “Don't be shy

Thank you, Andrew, for your letter and argument for human and environmental evolution:

"The fire falls at Yosemite have been terminated. Dynamite fishing and bear baiting are relics of the past. It's time to conform to environmental laws as they have evolved since the SVRA at Oceano Dunes was designated so that the park does not keep killing people, crushing endangered species, and giving us the distinction of the worst air quality in the nation."

Let's move forward in service of a healthy planet and all its inhabitants.

Re: “Unfree speech

"Cal Poly claims the protesters violated the university's Student Code of Conduct for an unpermitted sign." With that vague of a definition in the Student Code of Conduct, every T-shirt, hat, hoodie, and tattoo on campus that bears a logo and/or words is an unpermitted sign, too. As a recent Poly grad, I say please, let's have more of this arbitrary and ambiguous bullshit by Armstrong's Kyriarchal A-Team -- it helps entrench me in camp with the "Poly Peaceniks"!
