Re: “Right-wing hypocrisy on steroids

Thanks, Jim Griffin. I love your writing style, and your arguments against Faux News indoctrination. "Divide and conquer" is the strategy at play in our nation, and it's working (so far) because so many people cannot override their emotion-based "logic" (as if) and use logic.

Re: “Is this a great country ... or what?

Thank you for this article, Jim. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment, "or what." We are losing the war on social justice -- on human equity, no less -- so that the forces of hegemony maintain and amass even more power and money. A lot of people need to stop entertaining themselves to death and wake up to the reality behind their tv curtains, or the casualties will begin to multiply exponentially.

Re: “A systemic problem

Yes, Barbie! We're talking about a social construct that has taken about 10,000 years to finally begin to shatter. There will be plenty of backlash from privileged white males who refuse to think deep and critically about the system of oppression they continue to hold up. And yeah, a lot of their wives and daughters will cheer them on. But I'm ready to keep up the pressure!

Re: “Harassment on the city trails

I agree with hannahrock3 that these officials are simply trying to enforce rules about keeping dogs on leashes for safety purposes. I wish the officials were in my neighborhood park, where most people let their dogs run freely, despite the posted rules (leash at all times, pick up the poo). I am offended by people who flout laws because they feel they are taking care of their dogs. This "above-the-law" behavior puts others at potential risk of being harmed or simply scared by unleashed dogs. Worse, it puts folks like me in the position of either risking angering the person and facing some kind of retaliation, or saying nothing and effectively increasing the possibility that someone is going to get hurt.

Re: “Men will be men

Hi, Gary. Thanks for your contribution to this social plight. I agree with most of your commentary, except for this phrase:

"let's all agree that men are here for one primary reason: to procreate"

I like to think that humanity has evolved to the point that we are here for far more important reasons than putting more of us on the planet. The part of our DNA that pushes us to procreate is old and becoming less useful. Humans now have the ability to reason and to tap into our desires and actions for a creating a future beyond having babies, although most of us seem to still be choosing to populate the planet with more consumers rather than take care of the problems caused by human consumption.

I'm not bashing people who have children, I'm just saying that following a physical and emotional tradition of procreation may no longer be the best use of the rest of our DNA.

As for sexual predators, they can only hide for a little while longer. Women are moving us into the equitable society that I believe is right. In that social construct, ALL people -- and the entire planet -- will benefit massively from women's perspectives, voices, and actions. But it is vital that women also rise to their higher selves and stop enabling the toxic masculinity pervading and poisoning the best of human being and human doing.

Keep writing, Gary. I enjoy reading your posts!

Re: “A free pass

Thanks for this brilliant piece, Bob. In my assessment, grabbers grab: it's what they do best, in all aspects of life. I believe that people like this are the root cause of all social ills because they band together and defend their power grabbing at any and all costs. They were trained by the generations before them: Conquistadores, Revolutionaries, slave traders and owners, robber barons, and Hollywood moguls. They commit genocide, plunder the earth, oppress the "other," and sexually objectify 51% of the human race in order to maintain power grabbing ability. We're not in their Power Grabbing Club so they've been gaslighting us en masse. I see it plain as day. But the good news is, more women are standing up to that power grabbing, and we will not back down. I hope the rest of humanity follows suit.

Re: “Man pleads not guilty to threatening Women's March

If Phares is convicted and goes to jail, his dangerous racist, misogynist views will likely be reinforced by a prison system rife with problems and filled with other criminals and employees who harbor anti-social thoughts and behaviors. We must reform our prison system.
