Pablo Aguirre

Owner - Precision Machine Company

3055 McMillan Avenue, San Luis Obispo

NEW TIMES: What does Precision Machine Company do?

AGUIRRE: We are one of the oldest machine shops on the Central Coast, having opened around 1969. We’re capable of fabricating all kinds of machines and parts for personal use and small businesses.

NEW TIMES: What are some of the unique or unusual parts you’ve formed?

AGUIRRE: Well, there was a customer in Los Osos who had a creepy request. He wanted us to fabricate these circular, perforated bowls, about the size of a small golf ball. The task was easy enough, but he needed them in large quantities. No one could figure out what they were for, so we finally asked him out of curiosity. Apparently, he helped prepare people who passed away to look proper and well groomed. These “metal contacts” were used to keep the eyes of the people from sinking into their bodies.

NEW TIMES: What’s the longest production job you’ve had?

AGUIRRE: I can’t think of a single job that took the longest; however, there are some customers who we have worked for and maintained their equipment for more than 15 years. We’re known throughout the county for keeping equipment for business maintained and working in peak condition. If your equipment happens to break down because of a single piece, we’re capable of fabricating that piece so you don’t have to replace the entire machine.
