I find the events noted in Bob Spielman’s letter incredulous at best and quite possibly a total fabrication on his or his good friend’s part.
My partner of 34 years and I have been GALA members for at least 12 years. We have both done volunteer work with them. We are well acquainted with several members of the leadership. We have never, never been “ … directed to completely
disassociate [our]selves from any Republicans or conservatives� by anyone in or outside of GALA.
While I don’t agree with all the policies of the Republican Party or with conservatives in general, I certainly have no reason to look at them as abominations, as far too many do of me and my gay brothers and sisters. In fact, I frequently agree with many of the Republican members of Congress and often disagree with those of the Democrats.
It will be interesting to see what comes of the accusations of this letter in the
coming weeks. GALA is doing wonderful work here in the county for the entire community.
