New Times busts a move 

Got a hot tip for New Times? Need to drop off a packet of files exposing the biggest governmental corruption this county has ever seen? Don't put it in the hands of whoever opens the door at 505 South Higuera after you read this.

The New Times staff has crammed every last scrap of information into moving boxes and officially set up shop at 1010 Marsh St. So take that breaking information and walk down the stairs to the new underground office space.

The Higuera location was sold after New Times founder and majority owner Steve Moss died in 2005. Art Director and now-co-owner Alex Zuniga explained that the building's new landlords had plans for the building, and those plans don't include the alternative weekly that's rented the space since 1998.

New Times began its life in a one-room studio on the third floor in the back of the Silvaggio Building, then moved into a multi-room space over Central Coast Surfboards (then Tom's Toys), followed by a space-expanding stay at 197 Santa Rosa. The next move took

New Times to the Higuera location it's been in up until Aug. 30 of this year.

Visitors to the new Marsh Street office should park on the street, and there will be a 30-minute spot available in front of the public entry at the corner of Osos and Marsh. The parking lot itself is monitored constantly though not by New Times and towing is common.

The phone number (546-8208), fax number (546-8641), and everyone's e-mails are staying the same, though phone and Internet service went down the afternoon of Aug. 29 and wasn't expected to be available again until the afternoon of the 30th. If you tried to contact New Times in that window, please try us again. We weren't ignoring you.

The paper itself is staying the same, too. Mostly. There's a new gaming column debuting this week, running every other week from now on.
