A group of very involved citizens brought to light some serious issues on the Ramona Specific Plan. It appears that they wanted to get at the truth in order to determine if support is warranted for a very costly project for a very poor town. These residents wanted to know how much it will cost, how it will be paid for, why a bus transfer station was added, and if other more serious needs (street improvements) will suffer at the approval of this plan. Proponents very much appear to be non-resident private-interest parties. Mr. Clark even stammered when asked how it would be paid for. The City Council finally stepped up and confirmed that no funding from city funds will ever be apportioned for this project and that any funding toward street repairs will not suffer.
This is exactly what the opposition wanted made clear and that is their right as citizens. Mayor Shoals should apologize to these citizens for claiming that they are against children; nothing was ever said by them in that regard.
