Maximum flavor

Salivate: Forage and feast under the old oaks at EarthFire Farm on May 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. to help fund The Wellness Kitchen's recovery from a 2018 fire at the nonprofit's facility in Templeton. Cypher Winery and Thomas Hill Organics are collaborating on a five-course wine and food pairing adventure to help the kitchen rise like a phoenix from the ashes. You can forage for herbs and other ingredients in the garden, enjoy appetizers and Cypher's recently released Evanescence Rosé while playing bocce and horseshoes, and dine among the ancient oaks overlooking a vineyard. That sounds pretty awesome. For $125 a person, you'll get whiskey apples, goat cheese, bing cherries, shaved fennel, and candied walnuts with an herb vinaigrette; duck confit with pasta, spring peas, charred veggies, and forest mushrooms; a pistachio-crusted lamb chop served with red quinoa, celery root puree, candied kumquats, and truffled microgreens; charred duck breast with a blueberry gastrique, vegetable ash, and pickled turnips; and a flourless chocolate torte with lavender, honey gelato, and Caribbean cocoa. Whew. Plus there's fabulous wine from Cypher, so why wouldn't you go? (get your tickets at shop.cypherwinery.com) ... Celebrate the Summer Solstice island style with a CBD-infused menu on chef Julie Simon's island farm in Edna Valley on June 22. Hosted by Jean and Carol Paquet, the multi-course CBD menu will feature Whalebird Kombucha and Mender CBD Bodycare, and the dinner will be paired with wines from Ann Albert, Center of Effort, El Lugar, Nelle, and Stolo (RSVP to breakfastatbird@gmail.com) ... Worshippers of Morro Bay's famous saucy veggie-laden ambrosia (food of the gods, not the fruit salad, people!) now have a new place to congregate: Taco Temple recently opened its SLO location, and as of May 1, it already had customers leaving five-star reviews on Google (1575 Calle Joaquin; facebook.com/tacotemplemorrobay). Δ

Editor Camillia Lanham will soon be making a pilgrimage to Taco Temple SLO. Send chips, salsa, and newsy nibbles to clanham@newtimesslo.com.
