Man leads police to body

On Nov. 10, Jose Antunez admitted to killing his wife, and two days later he led police to a shallow grave in rural Cayucos where the body of a young woman was uncovered, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

The remains have not yet been identified.

Eliva Antunez, 21, went missing four months ago. Initially, police focused their search for the missing mother of three in Santa Maria.

"We had reliable information she went to Santa Maria," said Paso Robles Police Lt. Robert Burton. "Interviews with her family and friends all led to dead ends. So we turned our attention back on her husband."

Jose was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of murder.

According to police, the couple's three young children have been staying with his family since Eliva's disappearance in late June. Social Services is working to determine placement of the children.
