Komplete Kombucha's Lavender Lemonade and Dunbar Brewing Co.'s Brown Porter

If you’ve been hanging out with me lately, you’re probably downright sick of how much I’ve been gushing over kombucha. It’s my 2015 summer drink jam. I have a SCOBY in my fridge. Did you know how healthy it is for you? Stay with me people. I’m going to write a full feature on this fizzy probiotic drink in the near future, the focus of which will be SLO’s own Komplete Kombucha (stay tuned for their re-branded name). Will I work this obsession out of my system? Not likely. I just picked up a refillable growler of Komplete Kombucha’s seasonal lavender lemonade flavor, and it is the most refreshing companion to summer bike rides you will ever find. Plus, co-owner Jake Pritzlaff said it’s totally OK to mix it with white wine. Be still my beating heart. The applications … they are endless! Try a range of flavors on tap at Kreuzberg Coffee, High Street Deli, Bowl’d, Pluto’s, KravaBowl, Bliss Café, or stop by SLO’s Thursday Farmers’ Market for a sample, pint, or growler.

• Komplete Kombucha’s Lavender LemonadeAbout $5 for a growler refill each Thursday at SLO Farmers’ Market.

A double rainbow (seriously) appeared across the sky as I sipped on a pint of Dunbar Brewing Co.’s brown porter last Saturday. Coincidence? I think not! Owner/Brewer/Johnny Cash aficionado Chris Chambers has found his real life pot o’ gold with his new 10-barrel brew house, which I was stoked to tour during an informal Art Before Dark grand opening bash. If you haven’t checked this gleaming beer wonderland out yet, I highly recommend doing so. I can’t promise another double rainbow, but I can promise a cold beer worth drinking.

• Dunbar Brewing Co.’s Brown PorterAbout $6, 22815 El Camino Real.
