Jessica DeSimas of Nipomo Swap Meet and Flea Market

263 North Frontage Road, Nipomo

NEW TIMES: What distinguishes your flea market?

DESIMAS: Well the sheer size of our swap meet is gigantic compared to others. We offer permanent spaces for our sellers. We also have mini storage units available for anyone to rent, including the sellers, and we have a wide variety of activities other than shopping.

NEW TIMES: What are some of the activities?

DESIMAS: Depending on our calendar, we could have pony rides for children or bands performing live. We have a variety of artists who can sketch a picture of you or paint something unique to your tastes. We have a small train ride available for children as well. We also have a huge variety of food vendors selling their goods throughout the swap meet.

NEW TIMES: What was the most unusual item you found at the swap meet?

DESIMAS: Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of time to search for specific items or go shopping, since I’m busy working the swap meet. However, the maintenance crew tells us that if they need any tool or accessory that they can find it here from a vendor.

NEW TIMES: What are the hours?

DESIMAS: We are open both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturdays, we are open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sundays 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. There’s plenty of time for everyone to drive to Nipomo and search for long-lost treasures.
