Jeff OldS, District Manager, San Luis Obispo Jamba Juice

17 Chorro Street, 890 Marsh Street, and 1 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo

NEW TIMES: Congratulations on your 20th anniversary. How was the celebration throughout SLO?

OLDS: It was great! The weather worked out for us and the mayor and the Chamber of Commerce showed up to congratulate us and celebrate. Managers from the Central Coast and Jamba Juice Headquarters in Emeryville helped us give away 1,000 smoothies to our loyal fans.

NEW TIMES: What started the idea of Jamba Juice, which originated in SLO County?

OLDS: Kirk Perron was the mastermind who started Juice Club. He was a bicycle rider and health enthusiast who wanted something healthy after a long bike ride. At the time he was also looking into starting his own business, so he took the idea of the local smoothie shops in SLO County and made his vision of a better smoothie business.

NEW TIMES: What sets you apart from other franchises?

OLDS: Half of the franchises are owned by locals of their own communities, and we take pride in the volunteer work we do for education and health issues. Our number one mission is to make healthy eating easier for people. Most corporations try to hide the nutritional value on their products by not telling customers the exact amounts of preservatives, salts, or sugars. We want people to know what’s going into their bodies, so we allow our customers to read all the nutritional information they want in our stores.

NEW TIMES: If there were one thing you could say to the SLO community about all the years you’ve been a part of it, what would it be?

OLDS: Thank you for supporting us for 20 years, we look forward to being a part of your lives for another 20 years!
