It's all in how you ask for money 

As I was approaching the entrance to the CVS store, I noticed a man putting a sign on the sidewalk to advertise for customers for a nearby business. When he finished, he then walked across the street and was talking to a homeless man who was standing on the sidewalk with a sign advertising for some money for food. The man then left and headed to his store, and the homeless man started walking across the street and down the sidewalk headed north. When I caught up with him and after saying hello, I ask him, ‘What did that man say to you?” “He told me that I had to leave. All I wanted was some money for some food.” So I gave him $5 and wished him well. After that, I started to do some thinking, and here are some of my thoughts.

We live in a Christian (Christ-like) oriented country; would Christ tell him to leave? I know it’s against the law to be poor in this country and to panhandle. But how about the law that it is better to give than to receive? Or this one: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?

It’s OK to ask for money if you put a sign on the sidewalk, but if you put a face with that sign you become a second class citizen and not fit to live—no, I mean to survive in a so-called Christian country and community.
