I’m not the lone ranger! 

I’m gratified that your publication chose to report on a renewed effort to change the Fish and Game hunting policy on the Morro Bay National Estuary (“Getting their goose,� Jan. 13-20), but a few key points were deleted and there were some minor errors in the facts:

First of all, I am not the lone ranger here. The petition is part of a process of garnering a broad base of political support for changing the hunting policy on the estuary to be presented before the F&G Commission this summer. Entities including the Audubon Society, Sierra Club, ECOSLO, the NEP, Water Keepers, and both municipalities — Morro Bay and Los Osos — are being asked to take a stance. The citizens’ coalition I represent is asking for a reduction of hunting days and elimination of the grassy inland habitat from the designated hunting territory. These changes would reduce adverse economic impacts, improve public safety and be beneficial to the health and well-being of both migratory and indigenous wildlife. Petitions are being circulated throughout the area and can be found at locations such as 2 Dogs Coffee, Coalesce Bookstore, Sunshine Health Foods, Blue Skye Cafe, State Park Marina, and a variety of other locations in Cayucos, Morro Bay, Los Osos, and San Luis Obispo.
