Re: “Socialism for the loss

This is a prime example of the dysfunction caused be the two party system. A huge idea, with many facets, can be quickly dismissed without any consideration, by simply labeling it with one dirty word. There are a few good points in AOC's plan (there are many bad ones) but because of the two party system, they will be forever a part of the "other side" and lost along with the rest.

Re: “Things that matter

While it's true that ignoring south america, while intervening in mid east, is hypocritical. We still shouldn't intervene militarily in Venezuela, because we are terrible at it (we need to get out of the mid east too). Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Korea, all come to mind. It can be argued that these could have gone better if they had better planning and leadership; but getting better planning and leadership from the current administration is not likely.

Military intervention is too difficult and too dangerous to attempt, while Donald Trump is in charge.

Re: “Kindness of strangers

The fact that dental and vision are separate from health insurance is really stupid.

Re: “Green unicorns

Flat earth. Anti-vax. Anthropogenic greenhouse effect denial. Chem trails. 9/11 inside job.

Idiotic ideas that won't quite die.

Re: “The plague of false narrative

It's true that false narratives are a detriment to our democracy. An easy way to spot one: is there an "other side" that is wrong? If so, it's probably bullshit. If you think that the "other side" is the problem, you have been tricked.

There is no "other side". There are only actions, policies, and laws.

Re: “Government is headed for history's junk heap

I hope you didn't mean to compare the wages of a SLO county worker, with those paid to immigrant farm workers. Because if you did, it would make me wonder why the county employees get so much more, and don't work nearly so hard.

Re: “Los Osos board candidate contests November 2018 election

How can a candidate decide what the term is? The finish line is not determined by the racer.
