Re: “Ignore bogus reports

Oceano is poor because the weather sucks and no ocean view. The weather is Pismo is much nicer, and they have houses up on hills, therefore people are willing to pay more money to be there, therefore higher property taxes, more sales taxes, et cetera.

Re: “Keep dreaming

Why would anyone get compensation for a pre-purchase existing condition? Were they tricked? Were they unaware of the giant sand dunes? Why do they feel entitled to change the situation now? Why would state parks pay for improvements to a neighborhood, that doesn't contribute to fund those improvements? Why would you make permanent changes to the ODSVRA without at least testing them first? Why would you weight the interests of a few thousand residents higher than a few million visitors?

Re: “That crazy v-word

Also, I admit that my first comment was pretty harsh. I did not intend to insult, I meant to point out that that the letter did not convey the intended message. Sorry.

Re: “That crazy v-word

Sara, if there are facts to talk about, they need to be stated. Without any factual info, how could someone who is not intimately involved with the situation ever form a reasoned opinion? This letter does nothing to promote an "open" discussion. Your comment actually does much better job. When she hints at keeping the fact the the child is not vaccinated a secret, that's the opposite of "open" (not to mention dangerous).

Just to be clear, I am all for medical exemptions (when they are issued by a doctor who has actually examined the patient). My point is that if you want to promote awareness of an issue, you gotta actually tell people about the issue, not just emotions.

Re: “Vote for the planet

This issue, along with many others, will only be addressed if they is a major shift in the workings of congress. We need campaign finance reform, term limits, lobbying reform, and ranked choice voting.

Re: “That crazy v-word

If the point of this letter was to reinforce the stereotype of the hysterical, illogical, anti-vax mom, you nailed it.

Re: “The 'dunes of death'?

Brad, liberty is the fundamental idea that started this country, it's the foundation on which we all live, it's whole damned point of the United States of America.
