Good vibes 

Motion of the ocean: Libertine Brewing Co. is set to release its newest beer, Sea Shepherd Gose, benefitting the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Brewed with seawater, kelp, and blood oranges, proceeds from the beer will go directly toward helping the nonprofit’s 40-year mission protecting Central Coast ocean wildlife. Celebrate this feel-good release with a May 7 Sunday brunch event at the SLO pub, which includes wicked eats and live music from the local band Vissions. Oh, and there will be surf films galore shown on the pub’s many screens! (Follow Libertine on Facebook for more event details) … Many locals are still understandably upset about JUSTIN Winery’s treatment of native oaks, but you can’t deny that the iconic Paso Robles winery is attempting to give back. JUSTIN School Grants, a program of JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery,  has announced that $50,000 has been awarded to 43 classrooms in the North County area. The classroom projects that received funding range from robotics kits and art supplies to new physical education equipment.

Growing, making

Trivets, steamers, and spare forks, oh my! No, we’re not talking about what’s lingering under your sink. I’m describing Linnaea’s latest art show of recycled and repurposed masterpieces crafted by local artist Janelle Younger kicking off this May through June (Check it all out at Linnaea’s Café, 1110 Garden St. in downtown San Luis Obispo; linnaeas.com). Don’t forget to attend the artist’s reception this May 5, between 6 to 9 p.m. You bet there will be wine, snacks, and live acoustic music with local musicians Kelsey Dunn and Renny Zoeller! … Grape growers in and around the Central Coast are invited to attend the third of an eight-part seminar series hosted by the Independent Grape Growers of the Paso Robles Area (IGGPRA) on May 17.
