There was the sound of jackhammers on the street this morning. City workers were tearing up the street. Seems there was a water leak reported last night. They have cut a large hole, dug down, repaired the leak, and put down new pavement—all before noon.
I constantly hear criticism of government workers like city road crews being lazy and over paid. Well, it took three guys to open the ground and repair the leak and two guys to finish with the paving. I was impressed with the professionalism and efficiency with which I observed our city workers do the job using the modern equipment provided them.
To those who complain about government workers and budgets funded by our tax dollars, this is the price for living in a modern civilized society.
