# Located in the heart of downtown--at 1023 Chorro St.--Native definitely pulses to a beat of its own. In a city overflowing with college-themed bars, Native, which is full of positive energy and playful sophistication, offers Central Coast night-goers a refreshing, upscale alternative.

"It brings the city to you," said co-owner Sean Faries. "We wanted to create an environment that would play on people's senses and engage the way people interact with food and cocktails."

A glassed-in waterfall, integrated lighting, a top-notch sound system, and plush, leather couches all work together to create a stylish ambiance far removed from anything else in the area.

"From the moment you enter Native, you don't feel like you're in San Luis Obispo anymore," Faries said. "It's a hybrid of fun and sophistication."

At the bar, Native offers exclusive beers, a quality wine list, and various specialty drinks, including their award-winning blueberry margaritas, raspberry mojitos, Champagne cocktails, and pomegranate martinis.

But it's the kitchen where Faries says Native rises to the next level.

Executive Chef Charles Aghajanian uses premium, authentic ingredients to create an exciting, worldly cuisine. Favorites include wild boar chops, duck empanadas, fresh oysters on the half shell, and baby greens bouquet. The full lounge menu is served from 5 to 11 p.m., followed by a late-night menu served till 1 a.m.

# Not into crowds?

Native offers a more intimate setting in an exclusive VIP area where customers can share bottles of liquor and have a personal server mix their drinks, all of which occurs under the watchful eye of a private security guard.

DJ Flight sets the mood by spinning the best mash-ups, down tempo, rock, hip-hop, and dance.

In addition to the Valentine's Day festivities, Native offers S.I.N. (service industry night) every Tuesday, an all-day happy hour on Thursdays, and mimosa brunches on Sunday afternoons.

Hours of operation are 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., Tuesday through Sunday Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and, beginning in March, lunch starting at 11 a.m.

Dinner and late-night bottle service reservations can be made by contacting VIP hostess Joy Honey at 503-9694 or e-mailing [email protected].
