There’s beauty in the contrasting dynamic of strength and vulnerability. Glass, which embodies both these characteristics, is the medium of choice for Arroyo Grande artist Claudia Ariss.
A collection of her glass sculptures, titled Rock, Sand & Fire: Beyond Traditional Glass, is currently on display at Big Sky Café in downtown San Luis Obispo.
These contemporary stained glass sculptures incorporate recycled glass, mouth-blown glass rondels, decorative soldering, and bronzed natural wood branches and agates in their distinctively organic designs.
Come take in some art of a different sort and enjoy some decadent food on Feb. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m., when a reception will be held for the artist at Big Sky Café during Art After Dark.
The Rock, Sand & Fire: Beyond Traditional Glass will be on display through March 4. Visit eyecandyglassworks.com for information on the artist.
