Re: “We don't want it

If no one wants to drill for oil then we should all abandon our cars, planes, busses, and trains and stop being HYPOCRITES!

Re: “Boycott the NRA

As we know, guns don't kill people. People kill people. We don't have a gun problem, we have a people problem. I agree that in-depth mental screening should be required to purchase a gun, but we should not have to tread on the RIGHT to own a gun. When someone runs down a crowd do they blame it on the automobile or the driver? There were over 40,000 automobile deaths in the US last year, but no one is talking about reducing the number of cars. The NRA, like a lot of people, are under the believe that our rights are slowing being taken away, and that's why they fight against gun control, but have been promoting mental screening for years. BTW, when the %#@& hits the fan, I hope you're lucky enough to have a good friend with the right tools to save you and your family. Oh, what is this "common sense" gun control that you're talking about? Please let me know of one gun control law that is directly died to saving a life. Chicago has the most strict gun controls in the nation, but that doesn't stop the daily killing does it?

Re: “Why 'America First' is for losers

Sorry, Miss McClish, but when you grow up and realize that we can't take care of the entire world of immigrants who want to come to American, let everyone know and you can re-write this. Controlling immigration is not hate. Coming to American is NOT a right but a privilege that we, as Americans, must control the masses. Maybe you have been living in a bubble. Have you been to the Bay Area or LA lately and seen what is going on there? People walking down the street throwing their trash on the sidewalk because that's what they know. The process of immigration law is to ensure that people who come here understand our systems, our language, and our values. And, by the way, Adian Lentz, Gun control does not equal money. Owning a Gun is an American Right, not a privilege. It may mean money for some, but for most it means that we can take protect our own, when needed. When you take away guns in America you dissolve all freedoms and we are no longer a Republic.

Re: “NIMBYs and the Nipomo dunes

I actually spent several hours looking at all past studies, reports, etc. and then daily evaluating the air quality as it was collected and reported. I understand the logic and study that the off-road vehicles break the crust and potentially remove vegetation that reduces the protection of the sand from wind and allows additional dust to blow. I don't understand many of the claims made mostly by homeowners that sand is broken down, even further than mother nature can do, by off-road vehicles. That may be true, but is not logical to me. The real issue with me is that, as I looked back at all of the data related to the actual quality of air in the area, I didn't find anything significant for the last six months; relative to my evaluation period that occurred several months ago. WHERE IS THE PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE SOLVED. There are actually many places in California that are WAY worse then the Nipomo Mesa area and those areas are where we should be spending our tax dollars first.

Re: “A cascade of failure

I hear a lot of blow-back but no real solutions offered. This is a typical Democratic response from someone who doesn't have the courage to use their real name to post their disdain. Blame the Republicans, belittle those who disagree with you, and tell everyone you can that you're right and they're wrong. Let me guess, if you had a choice between two schools to send your children to and they were both completely equal in all regards except one school had armed security, you would choose the school without, right? We can talk about this forever, which is what we have been doing since Columbine when Obama was President and the Democrats controlled the Senate, or we can actually take measures to protect our children. What are your solutions? Or do you just like to spew your bucketful without offering any.

Re: “Gun-free Australia

The fact that we still call this a "Free Country" is fake news. Little by little the politicians and lawyers take away our freedoms, using every possible justification they can create, with the ultimate objective of people control. Ultimately, most of the laws do nothing to actually change anything except punish the innocent and law-abiding citizen.
