There are exactly three things to look forward to during the first week of May: Polish Constitution Day (duh!), the strong possibility of a new Marvel superhero movie, and Free Comic Book Day. This year, my friends, you get all three. On May 1, you can see the return of Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth’s muscles in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Hopefully, this sequel will answer that burning question we all had from the first film: How was that shawarma? Was it delicious? But if you have a hankering for more superhero action or simply enjoy free stacks of thin, colorful paper, then May 2 is your day.
That Saturday, you can visit Dr. Cain’s Comics & Games or Captain Nemo Games & Comics in downtown SLO for a special selection of free comics that include special editions from Marvel, DC, Dark Circle Comics, Fantagraphics, and Drawn & Quarterly. Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, and Spongebob also have some new adventures in store for this special occasion. Does Squidward finally learn how to tune his clarinet? Does Tina get a chance to touch Jimmy Pesto Jr.’s dreamy derrière?
All questions to be answered on Free Comic Book Day.
