  • SWEET REWARD: Powell’s Sweet Shoppe is rewarding students with A’s on their report cards with a $3 gift certificate that’s good toward anything in the store.

Another summer has just about come and gone, and school is right around the corner. There are not very many exciting things that can be paired with going back to school; new clothes and shoes, maybe new electronics, but the list ends there.

Well, Powell’s Sweet Shoppe is prepared to make all students an offer with their Achievers program. When you head back to school be sure to keep in mind that if you achieve a grade A, or have a teacher’s recommendation when your quarterly report comes around, Powell’s Sweet Shoppe will give students a gift certificate for free candy. Any candy you wish!

Powell’s Sweet Shoppe carries an assortment of novelty and nostalgic items such as candy, toys, and soda pop. Just walking through the store brings back old childhood memories. Like the days when the only thing you had to worry about was what kind of snacks you brought to school, or what character was displayed across your lunch box.

Ah, to be running around on a playground again, not worrying about deadlines, or whether you can afford next semester’s text books, and every meal was prepared for you. Yup, those were the days.

Powell’s Achievers program extends throughout the county; simply bring in your quarterly report and they will hand over a gift certificate.  Powell’s Sweet Shoppe doesn’t quit there though; they also offer free gelato on your birthday when you sign up for e-rewards, and if you “like” them on Facebook you’ll receive periodic sale offers and coupons.

So go ahead, get a little carried away by buying a classic lunch box and filling it with candy necklaces, bubble gum, and flavored popcorn. And include a daily note in your kid’s lunch sacks as a reminder Powell’s is rewarding good students all schoolyear long.

Powell’s Sweet Shoppe is located at 1020 Court St. right next door to Pallazo Guiseppe’s and can be reached at 543-7933. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
