Visitors to Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream Lab Show have the chance to invent a new ice cream flavor every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at 114 W. Branch Street in Arroyo Grande. During the free live performance, Doc Burnstein and his partner Ernie give a history of ice cream in addition to creating the new flavor for audience members to sample. Each innovative concoction is sold the following weekend and appears on the parlor's web site. A free business expo and network mixer, hosted by the SLO Womens' Network, will be held at the Monday Club on the corner of Grand Avenue and Monterey Street in SLO on April 18 at 11 a.m. Attendees will find raffles, prizes, and a chance to browse booths displaying products and services. The Cal Poly Wheelchair Foundation's sixth annual Gift of Mobility Benefit should raise a good chunk of the $66,000 the foundation wants to put toward more than 800 wheelchairs for children and adults in Argentina. The event is April 14 at The Cliffs Resort. A gala dinner will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by live and silent auctions. Tickets are no longer available, but donations are still welcome. The Children's Health Initiative of San Luis Obispo County will award a handful of Champions for Children at Santa Margarita Ranch on April 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 and include a barbecue dinner, train rides, salsa tasting, and live entertainment with comedian Lizette Mizelle and the band Son de Madera. Proceeds will go to the Children's Health Initiative, an organization aiming to ensure that all children in San Luis Obispo County have access to quality health coverage. This year, Monterey County's international bike racing event, the Sea Otter Classic, will coincide with the premiere of a mountain biking film from San Luis Obispo-based Video Action Sports. SEVENVISION, produced and directed by four-time Emmy Award winner Don Hampton, features Cannondale's CUT riders as they trek all over the globe. The team of seven mountain bike free riders are infamous in the biking world as good bikers and party guys. The premiere on April 14 at 9 p.m. costs nothing to you but will be housed in downtown Monterey at Monterey Live, where space is limited.
