Wine tasting and turtle topiaries. Barbecue and a rock garden demonstration. Enjoy a weekend of wine, music, and gardening seminars while helping raise money for the children's garden project at Cambria Grammar School.

Featuring lectures by renowned horticulture aficionados, hands-on workshops, and dozens of garden-related vendors, the third annual Gathering of Gardeners Festival and Symposium will be held at Cambria Pines Lodge on Oct. 21 and 22. Admission is free. Proceeds from food and wine sales will benefit the school's garden project, which is intended to enhance learning in a variety of subjects including art and science.

All-day events throughout the lodge grounds boasting five acres of themed gardens include a coffee bar, wine tasting, tea garden, food booths, live music by Jill Knight and Louie Ortega, and educational displays. Free demonstrations include planting with grasses, Mediterranean plants, and using gravel in the garden. Fee-based workshops include "Turtle Topiaries" and "Living Birdhouses."

The festival and symposium will run from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. For more info, call 927-4747 or visit www.gardenersevents.com.
