The Santa Barbara Regional Health Authority announced that it's changing its name to CenCal Health as of Jan. 1. The name change is designed to meet the needs of its expanding Medi-Cal service area. The new service area will include both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. "We're excited about the opportunity to offer our health care programs to more people," deputy CEO Bob Freeman said. The organization has administered the Healthy Families and Healthy Kids program in SLO County since 2005. In addition to those services, CenCal Health provides an array of health-related programs, including Access for Infants and Mothers and In-Home Supportive Services. San Luis Obispo-based bakeshop Utopia European Bakery Cafe took home the third place award at the Holiday Gingerbread House Extravaganza in Napa. Local pastry chef Eric Spreeuw designed the award-winning house, which was made up of a windmill surrounded by figurines depicting the autumn season.
