The Haub Gallery in San Luis Obispo will host the Art of Tennis II on Friday, November 7, featuring renowned improvisational artist Nancy Ostrovsky. Last year’s performance featured Ostrovsky creating five paintings of professional tennis players in front of a live audience, and this year Ostrovsky will paint such tennis legends as Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras, Andy Roddick, and Andre Agassi in a similar performance. The event begins at 5 p.m. and the paintings will be auctioned off afterward. All proceeds will benefit the Cal Poly men’s and women’s tennis teams, and donations are $50 per person and can be paid at the door ;

The Big Tennis Weekend in SLO continues on Saturday, November 8, with an instructional clinic and an exhibition by Sam Querrey at Cal Poly’s tennis courts. Cal Poly’s men’s and women’s coaches and their teams will host a free clinic for all ages and abilities from noon to 1 p.m., and Sam Querrey will demonstrate his “booming serve and forehand” and engage in singles and doubles play with local competitors from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. He will host a question and answer session afterward;

Jill Denton of Los Osos is celebrating her 30th anniversary as a marriage and sexual therapist by giving a $30 discount on the first three sessions for first-time customers of Access Point Supportive Counseling. The discount applies for both premarital counseling and regular therapy sessions.

“I’ve gained a lot of education and qualifications and experience (as well as gray hairs) since 1978 when I got started,” said Denton. “So I’ve decided to celebrate.”

Denton was one of the first 50 clinicians in the country to be certified as a sexual addiction therapist, and she has also been certified as a sexual educator and clinical sexologist. The City of Atascadero will host a holiday skate camp for children ages 7 to 14 at the George C. Beatie/Esteem Skate Park in Atascadero over winter break. The camp, which will be held from December 29-31, will provide children with an opportunity to learn more about skating, work on skills and tricks, play games, and participate in an optional skate competition.

George C. Beatie/Esteem Skate Park, the newest indoor skatepark facility on the Central Coast, is 8,000 square feet and comprised entirely of wooden ramps. It features a 4-foot bowl with a spine, multi-staging over tiers and banks, mini-ramps, and a pyramid area.

The fee is $65 for residents and $66.50 for nonresidents and includes a free T-shirt. Registration is accepted at Atascadero City Hall or online at
