Wine enthusiasts can learn how their favorite Merlot is made, thanks to a website launched by Ortman Family Vineyards. The website, accessible at ortmanwinelounge.com, offers visitors a window into the 2008 harvest on the Central Coast through videos and blogs posted by winemaker Matt Ortman, some of which are sent directly from the vineyard or cellar via his mobile phone. “Whenever I’m in the tasting room, people ask me about the winemaking process and how we do things,” said Ortman. “Now I can literally show them what we do. It’s the next best thing to picking the grapes yourself.” The Ortman Wine Lounge encourages users to participate in blogs and forums, browse photo galleries and stay up-to-date on wine events and winery news. ;
