Fast facts:

Friends and family of Terry Keller, an Atascadero native and martial arts teacher, invite the community to attend a fundraising barbeque on Sept. 6, in his honor. Keller, who is 42, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which he is battling at great expense to his family. A $20 dollar plate will help offset the cost of his treatment, and support his family. The event will also feature a winetasting provided by Cass winery, and a 50-50 raffle, with proceeds also going to the Keller family.

The barbeque will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Sept. 6, at the Atascadero Lake Park. Tickets can be purchased at Solarponics in Atascadero, or at Santa Lucia Bank, also in Atascadero. For more info, call: Cindy Michael at Solarponics, 466-5595 or email

Feline Network, a volunteer-run organization dedicated to placing stray cats in homes, and reducing the stray population through spay/neuter programs, is offering low-cost spay and neuter vouchers for pet owners. The vouchers, worth $45 and $25 dollars, are accepted in most veterinary clinics in the county, and some clinics in Santa Maria. Get more information from Feline Network every Saturday at PETCO in San Luis Obispo, where the group runs a weekly adopt-a-cat event.
