   Captain Nemo Comics in San Luis Obispo is giving away comic books on May 3 in honor of Worldwide Free Comic Book Day, when more than 2 million comics will be given away at thousands of shops around the world. The free books range from copies of Superman to Gumby, and include X-Men, Transformers, and Jughead. Manager Raymond Hanson said that even folks who’ve never picked up a comic should stop in “because you never know what you will end up finding.” The event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the shop at 563 Higueara St.
   The Lions Club of Paso Robles will host its annual dinner and drawing fundraiser on May 10 at the Paso Robles Elks Lodge. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 and will benefit the annual student vision screening program for Paso Robles students in kindergarten to 8th grade, and the Paso Robles High School student scholarship fund.
