Everyone should have health insurance

Santa Maria

Regarding Paul Bischoff’s letter about not being required to have health insurance (“Hands off,” July16), I don't quite understand his position. I think it is for everyone’s benefit that each individual have health insurance. I assume those who don't want health insurance don't have jobs, don't have a home, and don't pay any bills. What happens if someone gets hit by a truck, while standing on a corner with a "Won't work for food" sign? Oh yeah, just like the illegals, they’ll go to the hospital, give them a phony name, and let everyone who actually participates in this society pay for it. Even a minor trip to the hospital can build up enormous bills. If a person actually has anything to protect, health insurance sure seems like a good thing to have. Of course, if you haven't worked for what you have, or you have nothing, I guess you don't really worry about protecting your lifestyle.
