Drinky things

Think pink! Madonna Inn has a brand new climate controlled wine room unlike anything else available on the Central Coast. You're welcome to take a peek (it's located off the dining room in the Gold Rush Restaurant) and see what's pouring now at 100 Madonna Road ... Master mixologists are ready to teach you everything you need to know to plan your own organic patio cocktail garden! Explore the world of simple syrups, shrubs, and just when to shake or stir that ice with a FARMstead Ed class on Sept. 24 at La Cosecha in Paso Robles ... SLO Wine Country's Harvest on the Coast is coming up this Nov. 6 through 8 with all sorts of tastings, events, and dinners. Don't miss out on the historic 25th harvest—mark your calendar now and get over to slowine.com.

New food!

Stop this war: Oki Momo Asian Grill is open for business at 2256 Broad St. in SLO, and the eatery is serving up plates that everyone can enjoy together, even vegans, gluten haters, picky kids, and carnivores. Here, the Banh Momo sandwich, inspired by the classic Vietnamese Banh Mi sando, comes in steak, chicken, mushroom, or tofu. Of course, the meal is served on airy Dutch Crunch baguette or on two gluten free corn tortilla tacos (explore the eclectic and health conscious menu at okimomo.com) ... If you haven't been to Creekside Brewing Co. in a while, you will be surprised to see just how the menu has changed. Upscale farmers' market fresh cocktails, craft beer pairings that come with your order, and fried chicken and waffles? Go forth and taste for yourself (and try any of the super juicy burgers) at 1040 Broad St. in downtown SLO.

Fresh finds

SAVOR weekend is here! Tickets are still available for adventure tours and the main event Sept. 24 to 27 (go to savorcentralcoast.com) ... Make a tasteful date: Kitchenette, brought to you by the folks who created Paso's famed Artisan, is open for business in Templeton! Grab a cold snap pea, roasted pepper, kalamata olive, and mozzarella cheese salad or lock lips with a great big grinder on chewy baguette. The new eatery is serving up breakfast and lunch with a seasonal twist that is sure to reflect the region's changing flavors (located at 105 S. Main St. in Templeton; call 400-1006 or check Facebook for daily specials) ... Delve into old-fashioned craft cocktails at Whiskey & June in Atascadero. Already the darlings of The New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, this 2-year-old biz has elevated the offerings at the old Terry's location without losing any of the dive bar charm. Choose from more than 100 whiskeys from around the globe or go for a Manhattan or Moscow Mule on draft (yes—cocktails on draft!). Grab a designated driver and make a break for 5950 El Camino Real. Oh, and be sure to stop and say hi to their neighbors at Camozzi's Saloon and Tent City Brewing while you're at it. Atascadero's nightlife is looking bright!
