Take four different people, all from SLO, all unrelated to each other, and all about the same age, all arrested for drunk driving by different police officers in different places in San Luis, all within an hour and 15 minutes. The odds of this happening are not very high, but it did occur in the early morning hours of April 28.

At 12:45 a.m., cops spotted the driver of a pickup truck traveling on the wrong side of the road until he abruptly stopped after having hit a curb on Tank Farm near Poinsettia. When 19-year-old-Justin Clark failed the field sobriety test, he was busted.

Downtown, about ten minutes later, some cops noticed a car stopped at a traffic light at Marsh and Nipomo. The light kept changing, but the car didn’t move. For good reason. The driver was asleep, but he was set to go in case he woke up: his car was in “drive.� Suffice it to say, 25-year-old Steven Rossler failed to pass the sobriety test after he was awakened, and he was busted.

Two o’clock now. Police were called to the neighborhood of High and Cypress, after nearby residents complained of hearing a loud crash. Turned out to be 30-year-old Paul Conway driving his car into one that was parked. He was busted. Both cars were a wreck.

Back to downtown about two minutes later, in the 7-11 parking lot on Marsh. Bicycle cops determined that a car driven by 26-year-old Ani Loussararian rammed into a parked taxi. He, too, failed the roadside ritual and, like the others, was carted off to jail.

No one was injured in all this. But all four of those arrested should be prepared to lay out some cash. Depending on the type of lawyer and the severity of the charge, it could cost each driver about $7,000.
