Dance and The Tipsy Gypsies at Ballet Theatre SLO Feb. 12-13

Some songs are so groovin’ they just need to be danced to. But not every note gets steps to match its greatness.

Catch an on-point match-up of music and moves when Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo hosts local 40s swing band The Tipsy Gypsies on Feb. 12 and 13. The Tipsy Gypsies is comprised of Hilary Langdon on vocals, guitar player Forrestt Williams, violinist Allan Dick, drummer Darryl Vandruff, and double bassist Brian Lanzone. In addition to writing an array of original songs, this modern gypsy jazz quartet also covers a variety of crowd-adoring icons, including Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, Tom Waits, Portishead, Sharon Jones, and Louis Armstrong.

A special ballet performance will be choreographed to a sneak preview of new, unreleased music from The Tipsy Gypsies.

Tickets are $20 ahead of time and $25 at the door. Shows start at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 13 at Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo, located at 3566 South Higuera St., suite 207. Visit bt-slo.org for tickets and more information.
