CSD agenda wasn't secret

This letter responds to Jeff Hornaday's article titled "Los Osos interest group privy to secret CSD Agenda" (March 24-31).

Mr. Hornaday writes, "Board Director Lisa Schicker is accusing the CSD of shuffling its confidential agenda without notifying her or her like-minded colleague Julie Tacker."

It should be pointed out that there is no such thing as a confidential agenda - state law requires all agendas to be publicly posted at least 72 hours before meetings.

Next, Mr. Hornaday writes: "Not only were Schicker and Tacker uninformed of the postponement of some key agenda items from March 17 to April 7, ... [but] the Save the Dream group had announced the items in their newsletter."

Both Director Schicker and Director Tacker had requested copies of the draft agenda for the March 17 LOCSD Board Meeting prior to the agenda being set by the president, and the pre-published agenda did include two items that were not included in the final agenda. The president set the March 17 agenda on March 9 and revised the agenda to shorten it by deferring items to the April 7 meeting. Pandora Nash-Karner of Save the Dream called me later that day to ask if a specific item was on the set agenda, and I advised her it was not. Had Director Tacker, Director Schicker, or any other resident called me on March 9, 2005, I would have told them the same thing.

The LOCSD remains committed to providing the community with the best information available on all aspects of issues affecting Los Osos.
