Cougars & Mustangs

'Twas the Night Before Finals and all through the school, not a Cougar was purring, each one felt the fool. “I’m a diligent student! What parties? I’d read! But one more physics quiz and I’m animal feed. I can’t take all the stress. I have earned my respite! But my butt’s on the line, I must study tonight.” And they studied and studied till their study-er was sore. “Maybe school,” thought the student, “means a little bit more. Yes, my sanity tank is on empty, and now, I must find it more fuel to survive this. But how?”

And like seraphim hiccupping harp tones and glitter, our student, exhausted, in rags, but no quitter, heard a sound most triumphant, a sound to inspire what they knew they must do. “I must witness a choir!

“Yes, a classical feast, with some jazzy desserts, may be just what I need to rub salve on what hurts. But the hours I have until school are so few. If I want this delight, what in time can I do?”

Then their brain, kept in kleptomaniacal mode to not miss any notes, coughed politely and showed them a poster it snatched in its frenzy that day. At the Cuesta CPAC—which, oh yes, by the way, is the real place to see Refried Elvis, wish we’d caught that mistake so you’d not have to tell us—at the Cuesta CPAC, on Saturday the 12th, 7:30 p.m., every jolly old elf in one of the Cuesta choirs joins together to show off the art they admire.

From the crazy good jazz that Director John Knutson leads in Encore and Voce, to the Christmas salutes in more classical style in his own Chamber Singers. And let’s not forget Tarantino’s Mixed Chorus own zingers, combining the talents of students on voice with a few instrumentalists, wow, what a choice! Yes, the talent is real, but hear me out, just what if you can’t make it that night?

Well, no need for a tiff! For it happens at 3 p.m. on the following day at 962 Piney Way, (that’s St. Timothy’s Church in our own Morro Bay). It’s $10 for students, and $15 for the rest, to enjoy the spectacular Holiday fest, so if you think you’ve earned a few hours ’crastination, or just value supporting your peers and temptation affords you the time for this musical treat, they all hope that they’ll see you from stage in a seat!
