I realize that after years of reading about Sunny Acres, Dan De Vaul, and the ongoing feud between him and SLO County code enforcement, there seems to be little hope for the 20 residents living there after Aug. 20 if these disagreements are not fixed. (It seems like our county officials who can go home every night to a warm bed think these residents would be better off sleeping under the bridge or on the streets drinking dirty river water.)
The proposed 8,000-square-foot homeless shelter needs to be built immediately on the property. Our community needs this shelter. County Planning needs to get a heart and waive its fees so this project can go forward.
I read the commentary written by William Seavey a few weeks ago and know we concerned citizens can make this happen if we will get behind Mr. Seavey. He established an account at Heritage Oaks Bank, account No. 5396484. Come out, angels, wherever you are, and help get a shelter for the less fortunate among us built.
Have a happy good day.
