In last week’s story on the race between Jerry Lenthall and Patty Andreen for San Luis Obispo County’s 3rd District supervisor seat, (“Down to the wire, Oct. 28-Nov. 4), New Times quoted Lenthall as saying, “I’m proud to have the … Chamber of Commerce endorse me.

The San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce did not endorse Lenthall and had no plans to throughout the election.

“We will not endorse candidates, said Patricia Wilmore, director of governmental affairs for the Chamber. “It’s a long-standing policy of the SLO Chamber of Commerce.

Wilmore went on to say that they refrain from endorsing candidates because they want to be able to work with whichever official is elected. For example, if someone gets elected who was not endorsed, it could make for a poor working relationship.
