Clarification

In a Sept. 11 article titled “Beneath the surface,” the presence of arsenic was described as being found in the Pleasant Valley area east of San Miguel. In fact, arsenic is slightly above the maximum contaminant level for drinking water only at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School, where people are given bottled water to drink. While high levels of arsenic may be found in one well, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s an area-wide issue, as it isn’t uncommon for it to be an isolated contaminant.
